An old man
Makes his way through the garden
To wherever in a green suit.

The fountain softly whispers.

"Here,
People are remembered."

I am told of the men
Whose names are in the stones.

Smiles come and go.
Brothers, sisters,
Lovers, humans.
They are remembered.

I am told,
"It's only as bad
As you make it."

And I might just be
A little bit wiser.
A little bit happier.

Because, you know,
Life's just not that bad.

It's never that bad.

I wrote this on campus on the most beautiful morning yet. There's an old, beautiful little garden hidden on North Campus and I couldn't help but stop and write. I wrote a lot more, but they pretty much melted into this one.
